the cutest thing ever

A couple other gals and I threw a baby shower for my friend Leah this weekend. She is preggo with twins (a boy and a girl). Her sister in law bought her the cutest clothes - but this one has got to be my favorite.

Aren't they the most adorable things you've ever seen? I sure think so! Those kiddos are going to look so sweet in them. Can't wait to meet them! More pics from the shower to come... (I know you're waiting with baited breath)...

Little girls dancing

Ally & Ella from Anna Musatov on Vimeo.

BFF's

Ally has a little friend at school named Ella. She is the spitting image of Ally and a sassy little girl (just like Ally)! Needless to say, they are two peas in a pod, and they have a lot of fun together. Ella's mom and I have been talking about getting the girls together sometime, and this weekend it finally happened! They live in Stillwater, so we met them at the Mad Capper for a delicious lunch (try the hamburger, you won't be disappointed), and then went over to Ella's house to play for a while. I took some pics of them just being little girls. It doesn't get much cuter than that.

"I Love You Forever"

I took some video of Ally talking last night. Of course, she had other things on her mind - cutting paper. We were scrapbooking. Well, I was scrapbooking - she was cutting paper and gluing it to anything it would stick to.

I'm going to try to post some video of her talking about once a month, so you can see her progress with the implant.

Trust me, this is being quiet for her. She usually is asking us "why?" about a million times a day, and talking non-stop (usually at least 6-8 word sentences).

In the first part, I'm telling her "I love you forever", and she says back "I love you for always". That is from our favorite book to read together "I Love You Forever". LOVE that book.

Kids are so cute

It was almost 65 degrees here yesterday. I don't want to jump the gun, but I think Spring might actually be here! Ally and I took full advantage of the nice weather and took a drive to the park. Yes, I drove. It was getting dark out and I didn't want to have to walk back home in the dark. Sue me. ;) Anyway, she had a lot of fun. Of course, since it was so nice out, everyone and their little brother were there!

Ally made a couple friends while we were there. The cutest little girl came up to her and said "hi, what's your name?" Ally (without skipping a beat) said "my name is Ally". I about died. They were having a conversation. For a normal hearing kid, this wouldn't have been an issue, but with Ally (having to hear that girl's soft voice) - this was pretty impressive. The little girl introduced herself as Ava and asked Ally to play with her. They were just getting ready to go down their first slide and Ava's dad told her it was time to go home. Maybe they will meet up at the park some other time. Then Ally wanted me to help her down the fireman's pole and I realized she couldn't reach, so I told her to go down the slide to get down. There was a girl up there with her, she was probably 9 or 10. She said to Ally "wanna go down the slide with me?" Ally went down the slide with that girl! I'm so proud of her for being brave and not shy. The girl was so nice. I should've given her our number for when she gets old enough to babysit!

I've been looking online for Easter dresses for Ally. Of course, if money weren't an issue, I'd buy her this outfit, from Baby Gap:

It's only about $100 for the whole she-bang. Pocket change. ;) In all reality, I'll probably buy her something from Target. That's okay, we're a Target kinda family anyway.

Have a fabulous week!

Close to my heart...

As you know, Ally received a cochlear implant a little over a month ago. This has changed our life (hers especially) for the better!

There is another child, named Seth, who needs to get 2 implants! The families insurance will only cover part of the surgery. That's where you come in. If you contribute a small donation, this child will have the chance to get his implants! Click on the Profound Pictures Prize Package button on the left side of my blog to find out about this cool prize and how you can help.

Every child deserves to hear to their full potential.

Memories

It's amazing what you can find if you just do a little cleaning, isn't it? This gem was waiting for me in the guest room closet today.

I really have no idea what any of these mean. I think the rocket one is pretty cool though.

Aaw, cute. A teddy bear and a rainbow. And what is that "thinking day" patch all about? I only had to think for one day, AND I got a patch for it? Sounds like a deal to me.

I was in the Girl Scouts when I lived in Oregon. That's the Columbia River troop.

I wonder if Ally will want to be a Girl Scout? I hope so. I have some good memories. Oh, except for the time I went to overnight Girl Scout camp and someone was walking in front of me in the woods and a branch snapped back and hit me in the eye. I got pink eye. I had to go home because it was contagious. I guess that wasn't such a good memory.

Random

So, being that my life is SO EXCITING (no sarcasm at all) - I have nothing to blog about. So, instead, I'll post a bunch of random pics for y'all. Enjoy!

Ally after her surgery, sleeping peacefully (I'm sure the Tylenol w/ codeine didn't hurt). My mom took this picture.

My nephew, Tyler. I love this pic.

Me and Tyler - celebrating Christmas at my mom's. One of the few photos I actually like of myself.

Pajama time at my mom's house. Ryan looks so happy!

Here's to hoping I have something exciting to talk about really soon! ;)

Fun filled birthday weekend!

We helped celebrate 3 birthdays this weekend! Grandpa Doug turned 46 (I'm sure he'd love that I'm telling you all that), Cole turned 10, and Hope turned 8.

On Saturday we celebrated at Dave & Buster's with lunch and games with the family. Ally loved playing the games and getting to pick out a couple prizes with all the points she (me and Adam) won!

Ally (enjoying her kiddy cocktail) & Auntie Shannon

On Sunday, we went over to my sister's house to enjoy the company of my side of the family. Little miss Hope Marie was celebrating her 8th birthday. I can't believe how big she's getting. Seems like just yesterday she was the apple of her auntie's eye, you should've seen me showing off the pics of her as a baby (she was SO CUTE).

My mom and sister Vanessa giving Hope her birthday spankings :)

Hope reading the book of a card that my sister in law got her (I advised her to keep the cards short and sweet next time, since Hope reads the whole thing outloud)

My nephew Tyler, who will be turning 1 very soon!

Ally with her new Spongebob shirt I bought her. It was supposed to be for Easter, but I gave it to her yesterday. I'm a sucker.

Because I have nothing else to blog about today

So, I'm using Twitter. I must admit, I never knew how addicting it would become. Especially all the celebrities and politicians that use it. I'm currently following Ashton Kutcher, John Mayer, Tina Fey, Dr. Drew and others. Because, secretly I think we're friends? Really I have no idea why I'm following them - it's something to do. Here are a few "tweets" that just cracked me up.

"But Daddy, Obama's kids are getting a puppy, why can't I?" Because Daddy voted for McCain. - Tina Fey

Are Eggrolls just Chinese Hotpockets? - Tina Fey

I like my men like my peanut butter: chunky. - Tina Fey

Okay, apparently I'm amused by Tina Fey today. Happy Friday everyone!

activation, aunties and a ride (or two) on the merry go round

Good Morning! I hope everyone had a great weekend.
Friday was an exciting day for our whole family. Ally got her implant activated and it was absolutely amazing! She said "I can hear that" as soon as it was turned on. She just continues to amaze us every single day and there is not a day that goes by where we're not thankful for her. Wouldn't you know that my camera batteries went dead mid-session. Ugh! I could've cried, if it weren't for the fact that I had my video camera as back up. :) I will have to figure out how to post a video soon so you can see her reaction.
Here she is with Adam before we saw Dr. Rimell (her surgeon) to look over her incision and make sure everything was A-OK. He gave us the thumbs up and we were good to go!

Her audiologist, Barb, "hooking her up" for the first time

Listening and playing with puzzles w/ her papa. Barb was mapping at this time.

...and here it is! she wanted the purple microphone cover on, so we happily obliged.

When we were done with her appointment, we headed to the hospital restaurant and had some lunch. I was supposed to go back to work but decided to take the rest of the day off. We dropped Ally off at school so she could show off her new implant and we went over to Har Mar Mall and walked around for a while. Then Auntie Vanessa called and said her and Joe were off of work until Sunday so they'd like to come and spend the night. Sounded like fun to me! I made chili for dinner and we went to the liquor store for some hard cider and wine. I rented the movie Frozen River (pretty good) and we were in bed by 11:30. The next day, Adam was helping his cousin Travis with sheetrocking his basement, so the 4 of us (me, Ally, Vanessa, and her boyfriend Joe) went to the Mall of America. After eating at Rainforest Cafe (can we say expensive and not that good?), we headed over to Nickelodeon Universe for some rides. Actually, one ride for Ally, which she went on twice. Apparently my little sweetie isn't much of a risk taker, yet. She chose the merry go round - once with me and once with auntie. I snapped these cute pics of the. I love the first one!

Then, Auntie V wanted to go to Urban Outfitters to look around, so we tagged along. Ally found these sweet glasses and I must say, she looks very intellectual. What a cutie pie!
Anyway, that's our weekend in a nutshell. She went back to the audiologist today for more mapping, so we'll see how she does now. I'm sure she'll rock like she always does.
