I'm in love

Behold the peanut butter and jelly goodness of Smuckers Uncrustable sandwiches. I should have bought these for my 3 year old, but they're mine - all mine (insert devil laugh here)!

I Survived Door County

Well, it’s back to reality for the Musatov’s. Our trip to Door County was fabulous! I’ll give a quick re-cap day by day (does it get more exciting than that?):

Left home around 4:00 AM (yes, AM) and all packed into Tony and Shannon’s Excursion. Tony and Shannon are Adam’s brother and sister in law for those who don’t know. Included in the vehicle were: me, Adam, Ally, Mary (Adam’s mom), Doug (his stepdad), and Tony and Shannon. We woke Ally up around 3:45 with the hopes that she’d go right back to sleep. No such luck! She was wide awake and wanted cereal and juice. Thank GOD Tony and Shannon brought their portable DVD player. That thing was a saving grace for a 7 hour car trip. We stopped somewhere in Wisconsin for breakfast at McDonald’s. After breakfast, Ally fell asleep. Oh, but we did need to stop first so she could pee. I put a Pull Up on her, but we went ahead and stopped for her anyway. Coincidentally, we stopped on County Road P – how funny is that? Oh yeah, I took pictures and I’ll post them soon! We finally pulled into the house we were staying at around noon. It was 12:00 on the dot actually. We got all unpacked and situated and all decided to go on the boat for a while. Then we headed back in (me and Ally) and the rest of them went out for the night. Ally and I picked them up at 9:00. We ended up eating dinner around 10:00 that night. Don’t worry; I fed Ally dinner at her normal time. J

Crazy people were up at 3:30 AM to head out fishing. By crazy people, I mean Tony, Shannon, Mary, Doug and Adam. They were back in around noon. Everyone took naps (I twiddled my thumbs), and then we had some dinner and everyone went back out at around 5:00 for the evening.

Today we had Ally’s birthday party. She turns 3 on August 6th. We took a trip to Wal Mart and got a couple balloons and some plates and snacks. Then went over to Econo Foods and got her a cake and another balloon (a big frog). She had such a random birthday theme: a little Disney princess, a little Mickey Mouse (the cake – she’s lucky it wasn’t a Packers cake), a little frog. Then for dinner we made Grandma’s Tacos. That’s what we call them. Adam’s grandma Dee used to make them all the time, and now that she’s passed, we still carry on the tradition. They are corn tortillas slightly deep fried to make them extra good, stuffed with seasoned hamburger, lettuce and shredded cheddar cheese, rolled up, and then you deep fry them again just for good measure. J Delicious! Oh, and then you put crushed tomatoes on the top mixed with sugar, garlic, salt and pepper. I’m sure there’s some other ingredients in there, but Adam’s mom always makes them. Oh, and of course a dollop of sour cream on the top (isn’t everything better w/ sour cream or cream cheese?). At around 5:00 all the crazies went out fishing again. Oh wait, I was one of the crazies this time. Mary and Doug watched Ally for us.

Went to the local Cherry Fest in Jacksonport, WI. Only about a mile from where we were staying. They had local vendors, food, crafts, etc. Then we dropped Ally and Mary off at home (Ally was ready for a nap), and me and Adam went exploring for a while! We ate lunch at the Blue Ox in Bailey’s Harbor. He had a brat patty on a bun, and I had the pulled pork sandwich. Yum! We each had a beer (he had 2). Then we stopped at the Peninsula Pub for another drinkie poo. I had a really good bloody mary, and he had 2 more beers. That night, they went out fishing again and so Ally and I went to Egg Harbor for some shopping. I got myself a sweatshirt and a pretty necklace.

We packed up our stuff and were out of the house by 10:00 AM. We stopped at Pizza Hut for lunch (the pasta is really good, by the way), and then at a gas station a couple hours later. We were home to Elk River by about 6:30 or 7:00. Got home, turned on the A/C, and did a little cleaning and unpacking. Boy did I sleep well that night. I think we all did.

If anyone hasn’t ever been to Door County, I really recommend going there. It’s so beautiful and relaxing! Lake Michigan is absolutely breathtaking. The water is so clear, you feel like you’re on the ocean. Oh, and salmon fishing is a lot of hard work (for the guys), but a lot of fun. Those suckers can swim fast and they’re hard to reel up.

Stay tuned for some pictures, I’ll post them soon.
